Hujaya bin Adi reported,

Ali was asked about a cow as a sacrifice, and he said it suffices for seven people.He was asked about an animal with a broken horn, and he said there is no harm in it.He was asked about a lame animal, and he said it is acceptable as long as it can reach the place of sacrifice.Then he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to carefully examine the eyes and ears."

أن عليا رضي الله عنه سئل عن البقرة فقال عن سبعة وسئل عن المكسورة القرن فقال لا بأس وسئل عن العرج فقال ما بلغت المنسك ثم قال أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن نستشرف العينين والأذنين
