We used to be pleased when a man from the desert people would come and ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ questions.An Arabi came and said, "Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?"Just then the call to begin the prayer was made, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and prayed. When he had finished the prayer, he asked, "Where is the one who was asking about the Hour?"The man stood up and said, "I am here."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What have you prepared for it?"The man replied, "I have not prepared much in the way of prayer or fasting, but I love Allah and His Messenger."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A person will be with those he loves."I have never seen the Muslims rejoice over anything, after their joy at embracing Islam, as much as they rejoiced at this.The Ansari narrator said, "Much in the way of works, prayer or fasting."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا حميد والأنصاري قال حدثنا حميد المعنى
إن كان يعجبنا الرجل من أهل البادية يجيء فيسأل رسول الله ﷺ قال فجاء أعرابي فقال يا رسول الله متى الساعة قال وأقيمت الصلاة فنهض رسول الله ﷺ فصلى فلما قضى الصلاة قال أين السائل عن الساعة فقام الرجل فقال أنا فقال وما أعددت لها قال ما أعددت لها من كثير صلاة ولا صيام إلا أني أحب الله ورسوله فقال رسول الله ﷺ المرء مع من أحب قال فما رأيت المسلمين فرحوا بشيء بعد الإسلام فرحهم بذلك وقال الأنصاري من كثير عمل صلاة ولا صوم
