The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be a people who pass out of Islam just as an arrow passes through its target. They recite the Quran, but it does not go beyond their throats. Blessed is the one who kills them and is killed by them. Their distinguishing sign is a man with a deformed hand."

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن قوما يمرقون من الإسلام كما يمرق السهم من الرمية يقرءون القرآن لا يجاوز تراقيهم طوبى لمن قتلهم وقتلوه علامتهم رجل مخدج اليد
Its isnad is sahih. Shababa bin Sawwar Madaini is trustworthy, the authors of the six books narrated from him, and the talk about the matter of Irja does not undermine confidence in his hadith. The hadith is similar in meaning to 1254.
