I served the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, and when I felt I had finished attending to his needs, I said to myself, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is taking his nap." So I went out to some boys who were playing, and I came to watch their game.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived and greeted the boys while they were playing. He called me and sent me on an errand, so I went to attend to it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat in the shade until I came back to him. I was delayed in returning to my mother at the time I usually came to her.When I came to her, she asked, "What kept you?"I replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me on an errand."She said, "And what was it?"I said, "It is a secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She said, "Then guard the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Thabit said, Anas told me, "If I were going to tell it to anyone among the people, or if I were ever to relate it, I would have related it to you, Thabit."
حدثنا حجاج وهاشم المعنى قالا حدثنا سليمان عن ثابت
خدمت رسول الله ﷺ يوما حتى إذا رأيت أني قد فرغت من خدمته قلت يقيل رسول الله ﷺ فخرجت إلى صبيان يلعبون قال فجئت أنظر إلى لعبهم قال فجاء رسول الله ﷺ فسلم على الصبيان وهم يلعبون فدعاني رسول الله ﷺ فبعثني إلى حاجة له فذهبت فيها وجلس رسول الله ﷺ في فيء حتى أتيته واحتبست عن أمي عن الإتيان الذي كنت آتيها فيه فلما أتيتها قالت ما حبسك قلت بعثني رسول الله ﷺ في حاجة له قالت وما هي قلت هو سر لرسول الله ﷺ قالت فاحفظ على رسول الله ﷺ سره قال ثابت قال لي أنس لو حدثت به أحدا من الناس أو لو كنت محدثا به لحدثتك به يا ثابت
