The Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to assign a tract of land in Bahrain to some of the Ansar. They said, "No, not unless you assign the same to our brothers from the Muhajirun."He summoned the Muhajirun, but they declined.He said, "After me, you will see others preferred over you. So be patient until you meet me."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد الأنصاري قال سمعت
أن رسول الله ﷺ أراد أن يكتب لناس من الأنصار إلى البحرين فقالوا لا إلا أن تكتب لإخواننا من المهاجرين مثلها فدعاهم فأبوا قال أما إنكم سترون بعدي أثرة فاصبروا حتى تلقوني
Its isnad is sahih, but Humayd was dropped from the printed edition, which is a serious error, because Yahya bin Saeed Qattan, the teacher of Ahmad, definitely did not hear from Anas. That is why Haythami graded it sahih without pointing out the disconnection. As for Ansari, Ahmad narrated it from him through the route of Abu Muawiya, as in 12642.
