A delegation from the people of Yemen came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he wanted to send a man with them.They said, "Send a man with us."He said, "I will send with you the trustworthy one of this nation," and he sent Abu Ubayda bin Jarra.Ubayy said, in another version, they said, "Messenger of Allah, send with us a man to teach us."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took the hand of Abu Ubayda bin Jarra and said, "Every nation has a trustworthy one, and this is the trustworthy one of this nation."
حدثنا مؤمل حدثنا حماد حدثنا ثابت
أن وفدا من أهل اليمن قدموا على النبي ﷺ فأراد أن يبعث معهم رجلا فقالوا ابعث معنا رجلا فقال أبعث معكم أمين هذه الأمة فبعث أبا عبيدة بن الجراح قال أبي وفي موضع آخر قالوا يا رسول الله ابعث معنا رجلا يعلمنا فأخذ رسول الله ﷺ بيد أبي عبيدة بن الجراح فقال لكل أمة أمين وهذا أمين هذه الأمة
