Anas bin Malik reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, "Ask me whatever you wish."A man stood up and asked, "Messenger of Allah, who is my father?"He replied, "Your father is Hudhafah," naming the man to whom he was attributed.His mother later said to him, "My son, you have placed your mother in a most awkward position."He answered, "I only wanted to clear my heart of what was being said, for things had indeed been said about him."
