Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

Mughirah bin Shuba had a spear, and whenever we set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a military expedition, he would take it along with him and plant it in the ground. People would pass by it and pick it up.I said, "If I meet the Prophet ﷺ, I will surely tell him about this."He replied, "If you do that, no lost item will ever be picked up and returned again."

حدثنا أبو أحمد حدثنا سفيان عن أبي إسحاق عن أبي الخليل

عن علي رضي الله عنه قال

كان للمغيرة بن شعبة رمح فكنا إذا خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في غزاة خرج به معه فيركزه فيمر الناس عليه فيحملونه فقلت لئن أتيت النبي ﷺ لأخبرنه فقال إنك إن فعلت لم ترفع ضالة
