The prayer would be ready to begin, and a man would approach the Prophet ﷺ about some need of his. He would stand between him and the qiblah, and the Prophet ﷺ would keep standing there speaking with him. I would sometimes see some of the people dozing off from how long the Prophet ﷺ stood with him.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن ثابت البناني
كانت الصلاة تقام فيكلم النبي ﷺ الرجل في حاجته تكون له فيقوم بينه وبين القبلة فما يزال قائما يكلمه فربما رأيت بعض القوم لينعس من طول قيام النبي ﷺ له
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is a reference to hadith 12570.
