A family from the Ansar had a camel they used for drawing water, but the camel became unmanageable and would not let them ride its back. The Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "We had a camel we used for drawing water, but it has become unruly with us and refuses to let us ride its back. Now our crops and palm trees are parched with thirst."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Get up." They got up, and he entered the walled garden where the camel was off in one corner. The Prophet ﷺ walked toward it.The Ansar said, "Prophet of Allah, it has become like a rabid dog, and we fear it may attack you."He replied, "It will do me no harm."When the camel saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it came toward him and fell down prostrating before him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of its forelock, and it became as docile as could be, until he put it back to work.His companions said to him, "Messenger of Allah, this is a beast without reason, and it prostrates to you, while we have reason. We have a greater right to prostrate to you."He said, "It is not proper for a human being to prostrate to another human being. Were it proper for a human being to prostrate to another human being, I would have ordered the wife to prostrate to her husband because of the magnitude of his right over her. By the One in whose hand is my soul, if from the soles of his feet to the parting of his hair there were a sore oozing pus and blood, and she came to him and licked it, she would still not have fulfilled his right."
حدثنا حسين حدثنا خلف بن خليفة عن حفص
كان أهل بيت من الأنصار لهم جمل يسنون عليه وإن الجمل استصعب عليهم فمنعهم ظهره وإن الأنصار جاءوا إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالوا إنه كان لنا جمل نسني عليه وإنه استصعب علينا ومنعنا ظهره وقد عطش الزرع والنخل فقال رسول الله ﷺ لأصحابه قوموا فقاموا فدخل الحائط والجمل في ناحية فمشى النبي ﷺ نحوه فقالت الأنصار يا نبي الله إنه قد صار مثل الكلب الكلب وإنا نخاف عليك صولته فقال ليس علي منه بأس فلما نظر الجمل إلى رسول الله ﷺ أقبل نحوه حتى خر ساجدا بين يديه فأخذ رسول الله ﷺ بناصيته أذل ما كانت قط حتى أدخله في العمل فقال له أصحابه يا رسول الله هذه بهيمة لا تعقل تسجد لك ونحن نعقل فنحن أحق أن نسجد لك فقال لا يصلح لبشر أن يسجد لبشر ولو صلح لبشر أن يسجد لبشر لأمرت المرأة أن تسجد لزوجها من عظم حقه عليها والذي نفسي بيده لو كان من قدمه إلى مفرق رأسه قرحة تنبجس بالقيح والصديد ثم استقبلته فلحسته ما أدت حقه
