I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey pray eight rakahs of the forenoon prayer. When he had finished, he said, "I have prayed a prayer of hope and fear. I asked my Lord for three things, and He granted me two and withheld one. I asked Him not to afflict my community with years of famine, and not to let their enemy prevail over them, and He granted both. I asked Him not to divide them into sects, but He refused me that."
Its isnad is daif, because of Rushdin and because of Husayn bin Ghaylan, for I did not find anyone by this name, nor "Hasan bin Ghaylan," except a teacher of Abu Naeem, the author of al-Hilyah, nor "Husayn bin Ghaylan," nor "Allan," except likewise a teacher of Abu Naeem. The hadith has already appeared at 12425 with a sahih chain. As for Dahhak the Qurashi, he is Ibn Qays bin Khalid, who had a sighting of the Prophet, and there is disagreement over whether he was a companion, and he narrates from Anas.
