Amr bin Sufyan reported,

A man delivered a speech on the day of Basra when Ali gained the upper hand. Ali said, "This speaker is eloquent and skilled. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came first, Abu Bakr prayed second, and Umar came third. Then a trial struck us after them, in which Allah does what He wills."

خطب رجل يوم البصرة حين ظهر علي رضي الله عنه فقال علي هذا الخطيب الشحشح سبق رسول الله ﷺ وصلى أبو بكر وثلث عمر ثم خبطتنا فتنة بعدهم يصنع الله فيها ما شاء
