قالوا يا رسول الله استشهد مولاك فلان قال كلا إني رأيت عليه عباءة غلها يوم كذا وكذا
Its chain of transmission is hasan, because of Hakam bin Atiya and because of Abu Mukhays al-Yashkuri, about whom Ibn Hajar said, "Unknown, it is not known who he is." However, Bukhari mentioned him in Tarikh al-Kabir 9/74, in the section on kunyas, and said that Amr bin Zubyan narrated from him. Abu Hatim said in Jarh 9/444 that Hakam bin Atiya narrated from him. As is also the case here in the Musnad, this shows that two people narrated from him, which removes him from the category of the unknown.His corroborating narrations are numerous, and they are what elevate his status. It was narrated with this exact wording by Muslim, 1/107, number 114, in the Book of Faith, in the chapter on the severity of the prohibition against misappropriating war spoils, by Darimi, 2/302, number 2489, in the Book of Expeditions, in the chapter on what has been said about misappropriating war spoils, and by Ibn Abu Shayba, 14/466, number 18731, in the Book of Campaigns, in the chapter on the Battle of Khaybar.
