A man said, "Messenger of Allah, so-and-so has a date palm, and I am setting up my garden wall around it. Order him to give it to me so I can complete my wall."The Prophet ﷺ said to the owner, "Give it to him in exchange for a date palm in Paradise."But the man refused. Then Abu Dahdah came to him and said, "Sell me your date palm in exchange for my garden."So he did. Abu Dahdah then came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have purchased that date palm in exchange for my garden."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then give it to him, for I have granted it to you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "How many clusters of dates hang ready for Abu Dahdah in Paradise!" He repeated this several times.Abu Dahdah then went to his wife and said, "Umm Dahdah, leave the garden, for I have sold it in exchange for a date palm in Paradise."She replied, "A profitable sale indeed!" or words to that effect.
