When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, they said, "One man digs a side-niche grave and another digs a straight grave. Let us seek guidance from our Lord." So they sent for both of them, saying, "Whichever one arrives first, we will leave the matter to him." They sent for the two men, and the one who dug the side-niche arrived first, so they made a side-niche grave for him.
حدثنا أبو النضر حدثنا المبارك حدثني حميد الطويل
لما توفي رسول الله ﷺ قال كان رجل يلحد وآخر يضرح فقالوا نستخير ربنا فبعث إليهما فأيهما سبق تركناه فأرسل إليهما فسبق صاحب اللحد فألحدوا له
