The work of drawing water with their camels became burdensome for the Ansar, so they gathered before the Prophet ﷺ to ask him to have a flowing river dug for them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "Welcome, Ansar. By Allah, you will not ask me for anything today without my granting it to you, nor will I ask Allah for anything on your behalf without His granting it to me."They said to one another, "Seize this opportunity and ask for forgiveness."So they said, "Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah for our forgiveness."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, forgive the Ansar, the children of the Ansar, and the children of the children of the Ansar."
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Nadr is Hashim bin Qasim, and Mubarak is Ibn Fadala. Haythami likewise declared it sahih in 10/4, saying, "Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih." So did Hakim in 4/80, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
