Safiyyah was told that Hafsah had said about her, "She is the daughter of a Jew," so she wept. The Prophet ﷺ entered upon her while she was crying and asked, "What is the matter with you?"She replied, "Hafsah said about me that I am the daughter of a Jew."The Prophet ﷺ said, "You are indeed the daughter of a prophet, your uncle is a prophet, and you are married to a prophet, so what does she have to boast about over you?" Then he said, "Fear Allah, Hafsah."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال حدثنا معمر عن ثابت
بلغ صفية أن حفصة قالت إني ابنة يهودي فبكت فدخل عليها النبي ﷺ وهي تبكي فقال ما شأنك فقالت قالت لي حفصة إني ابنة يهودي فقال النبي ﷺ إنك ابنة نبي وإن عمك لنبي وإنك لتحت نبي ففيم تفخر عليك فقال اتق الله يا حفصة
