The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the major sins, or was asked about them, and said, "Associating partners with Allah , killing a soul, and disobedience to parents." Then he said, "Shall I not tell you of the gravest of the major sins?" He said, "False speech," or he said, "False testimony."Shuba said, "It is most likely in my recollection that he said, 'False testimony.'"
Its isnad is sahih. Ubaydullah bin Abu Bakr is the grandson of Anas, and the hadith was narrated by Bukhari in Adab, "Undutifulness to Parents," and Muslim 1/91, no. 288, in Iman, "The Major Sins and the Greatest of Them."
