The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The likeness of my nation is the likeness of rain. It is not known whether its beginning is better or its end."
حدثنا حسن الأشيب حدثنا حماد بن يحيى حدثنا ثابت البناني
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن مثل أمتي مثل المطر لا يدرى أوله خير أو آخره
Its chain of transmission is hasan, due to Hammad bin Yahya al-Abahh, who is truthful but makes mistakes, and he narrated this hadith alone, as Tirmidhi said in 5/152, no. 2869, in the Chapter on Parables 6, and he said, hasan gharib. It is also found in Ibn Hibban, 573, no. 2307, Mawarid.
