The witr prayer is not obligatory, but it is a sunnah established by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so perform witr, people of the Quran.
حدثنا عبد الله حدثني عمرو بن محمد بن بكير الناقد حدثنا عبد الله بن داود الخريبي عن علي بن صالح عن أبي إسحاق عن عاصم بن ضمرة
إن الوتر ليس بحتم ولكنه سنة سنها رسول الله ﷺ فأوتروا يا أهل القرآن
Its isnad is sahih. Amr bin Muhammad Naqid is trustworthy, reliable, and truthful, one of the teachers of Bukhari and Muslim. Abdullah bin Dawud Khuraybi is trustworthy, truthful, and dependable. Khuraybi is with a damma on the kha, a name derived from a district in Basra where he lived. See also 1219, 1227.
