We used to visit Anas while his baker was at work. One day he said to us, "Eat, for I do not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ever set eyes on a thin loaf of bread, nor did he ever eat a roasted lamb."
Its isnad is sahih. The hadith is found in Bukhari 9/552, no. 5421, in the Book of Foods, chapter on the roasted sheep and the shoulder, and in Ibn Majah 2/1108, no. 3339, in the Book of Foods, chapter on flatbread. "The samit sheep" means the one roasted whole.
