The Prophet ﷺ would not come to his family at night unannounced. He would enter upon them either in the morning or in the evening.
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا همام حدثنا إسحاق بن عبد الله
أن النبي ﷺ كان لا يطرق أهله ليلا كان يدخل عليهم غدوة أو عشية
Its chain of transmission is sahih, but it is disconnected, as Haythami said (4/330), for Abdul-Samad did not hear from Ishaq. The prohibition of that has been reported frequently, narrated by Bukhari (3/9) in the chapter on Hajj, entering in the evening, and by Muslim (3/1527, no. 1928) in the chapter on leadership, travel is a portion of punishment.
