The Prophet ﷺ continuously fasted toward the end of the month, and some of the people did the same. When this reached the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Had the month been extended for us, I would have continued fasting in a way that would make those who go to extremes abandon their excess. I am not like you. I spend the night with my Lord feeding me and giving me drink."
حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن حميد عن ثابت
واصل النبي ﷺ آخر الشهر وواصل ناس من الناس فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فقال لو مد لنا الشهر لواصلت وصالا يدع المتعمقون تعمقهم إني لست مثلكم إني أظل يطعمني ربي ويسقيني
