You recite "after any bequest he may have made or any debt" [Nisa 4:11], yet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that debts are settled before bequests. Brothers from the same mother inherit from one another to the exclusion of half-brothers from different mothers. A man inherits from his full brother, who shares both his father and mother, rather than from his half-brother who shares only the father.

إنكم تقرءون {من بعد وصية يوصى بها أو دين} وإن رسول الله ﷺ قضى بالدين قبل الوصية وإن أعيان بني الأم يتوارثون دون بني العلات يرث الرجل أخاه لأبيه وأمه دون أخيه لأبيه
