The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at Baqi when one man called out to another, "Abu Qasim!" The Prophet ﷺ turned toward him.The man said, "I did not mean you, Messenger of Allah. I only meant so-and-so."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Name yourselves by my name, but do not take my kunya as your own."Abdullah bin Bakr narrated in his version, "Name yourselves by my name."
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا حميد وعبد الله بن أبي بكر حدثنا حميد
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان بالبقيع فنادى رجل رجلا يا أبا القاسم فالتفت النبي ﷺ فقال الرجل لم أعنك يا رسول الله إنما عنيت فلانا فقال رسول الله ﷺ تسموا باسمي ولا تكنوا بكنيتي حدثنا عبد الله بن بكر في حديثه تسموا باسمي
[Shakir: 12157] Its isnad is sahih. The correct form is Abdullah bin Bakr, and this is how it appears in our manuscripts, but it must be the same as the preceding one, and the hadith has already appeared at 12069.[Shakir: 12158] Its isnad is sahih, and it confirms the second route.
