A man said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Where is my father?"He replied, "In the Fire."When he saw the look on the man's face, he said, "My father and your father are both in the Fire."
حدثنا وكيع عن حماد عن ثابت
قال رجل للنبي ﷺ أين أبي قال في النار قال فلما رأى ما في وجهه قال إن أبي وأباك في النار
Its isnad is sahih. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1/191, no. 203, in the chapter on faith, regarding one who dies in disbelief, and Abu Dawud, 4/230, no. 4718, in the chapter on sunnah, regarding the offspring of polytheists, and Bayhaqi, 7/190. It is also said that he interceded for his parents after this.
