The Prophet ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman would all begin the recitation with "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds" [Fatihah 1:2].
حدثنا إسماعيل حدثنا سعيد بن أبي عروبة عن قتادة
أن النبي ﷺ وأبا بكر وعمر وعثمان كانوا يفتتحون القراءة ب {الحمد لله رب العالمين}
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related the hadith, 2/226, no. 743, in Fath al-Bari, in the chapter on adhan, what one says after the takbir, and Muslim, 1/299, no. 399, in the chapter on prayer, as evidence for those who say that the basmalah is not to be recited aloud, and all the imams related along with it the hadith about reciting the basmalah aloud, and the jurists differed as a result of the differences among the narrations, and this is proof that jurisprudence is not to be derived directly from hadith except by jurists or those who are among them.
