When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took Safiyyah as his wife, he stayed with her for three days, as she was previously married.
حدثنا هشيم عن حميد
لما اتخذ رسول الله ﷺ صفية أقام عندها ثلاثا وكانت ثيبا
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it (10/101, no. 5213, Fath) in the Book of Marriage, chapter "If a man marries a virgin after a previously married woman." Muslim related it (2/1083, no. 1460) in the Book of Suckling, chapter "The amount of time due to a virgin and a previously married woman." Abu Dawud related it (2/240, no. 2124) in the Book of Marriage, chapter "Staying with a virgin." And Tirmidhi related it (2/436, no. 1139) similarly, and he said, hasan sahih.
