A man placed his hand on the Prophet ﷺ and said, "By Allah, I cannot keep my hand on you because of the intensity of your fever."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "We prophets have our trials multiplied just as our reward is multiplied. There was a prophet among the prophets who was afflicted with lice until they killed him, and there was a prophet among the prophets who was afflicted with such poverty that he could only find a cloak to wrap himself in. Yet they used to rejoice in trials just as you rejoice in ease."

Its chain of transmission is daif, because of the unknown identity of the narrator from Abu Saeed. However, the hadith has a corroborating sahih witness reported by Tirmidhi, 4/603, no. 2398, in the chapter on tribulations, on patience in adversity, and he said, hasan sahih. Hakim graded it sahih with this wording, 4/307, and Dhahabi agreed with him, and Bayhaqi reported it from him, 3/372.
