The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade continuous fasting, then said, "Whoever feels he must fast continuously, let him fast from one predawn meal to the next."Someone said, "Messenger of Allah, you yourself fast continuously."He replied, "I am not like you. I spend the night with One who feeds me and One who gives me drink."

أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن الوصال فقال من لم يكن له بد من الوصال فليواصل من السحر إلى السحر قيل يا رسول الله إنك تواصل قال إني لست كهيئتكم إني أبيت مطعم يطعمني وساق يسقيني
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Saeed is the freedman of Banu Hashim, whose name is Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Ubayd Basri. Abdullah bin Jafar is Ibn Abdul-Rahman Zuhri. Abdullah bin Khabab is the Ansari. Yazid bin Abdullah is Ibn Hadi. The hadith was mentioned previously at 10996.
