Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

During the time of the Prophet ﷺ, a person was given forty lashes for drinking wine, struck with two sandals. When the time of Umar came, he replaced each sandal with a single lash of the whip.

جلد على عهد النبي ﷺ في الخمر بنعلين أربعين فلما كان زمن عمر جلد بدل كل نعل سوطا
