As soon as Khaybar was conquered, we, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, fell upon that vegetable, garlic, and ate a great deal of it, since the people were hungry. Then we went off to the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught the smell.He said, "Whoever has eaten any of this foul plant, let him not come near us in the mosque."People said, "It has been forbidden, it has been forbidden!"This reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he said, "People, it is not for me to forbid what Allah has made lawful, but it is a plant whose smell I dislike."
حدثنا إسماعيل أخبرنا سعيد عن أبي نضرة
لم نعد أن فتحت خيبر وقعنا أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ في تيك البقلة في الثوم فأكلنا منها أكلا شديدا وناس جياع ثم رحنا إلى المسجد فوجد رسول الله ﷺ الريح فقال من أكل من هذه البقلة الخبيثة شيئا فلا يقربنا في المسجد فقال ناس حرمت حرمت فبلغ ذلك رسول الله ﷺ فقال أيها الناس إنه ليس لي تحريم ما أحل الله ولكنها شجرة أكره ريحها
