The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let me give you glad tidings of the Mahdi. He will be sent among my community at a time of division among the people and of violent upheavals. He will fill the earth with fairness and justice just as it had been filled with oppression and injustice. The dwellers of heaven and the dwellers of earth will be pleased with him, and Allah will fill the hearts of Muhammad's community with contentment, so that no one will have need of anyone else. Then a caller will announce, 'Who has need of wealth?' A man will stand up and say, 'I do.' He will be told, 'Go to the keeper,' meaning the treasurer, 'and tell him, the Mahdi says to you, give me something.' So he will go to the keeper and speak to him, and the keeper will say to him, 'Scoop up as much as you like.' So he will scoop it up, and once he has taken hold of it he will say, 'I was the greediest soul in Muhammad's community,' or, 'Was I unable to bear what was enough for all of them?' He will remain seven years, or eight, or nine, and after him there is no good left in life at all."Then he will regret it and bring it back to the keeper, who will say to him, "We do not take back anything we have given."
