The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out an expedition, and I was among them. We came to a village and asked its people for food, but they refused to give us anything. Then a man from the village came to us and said, "People of the Arabs, is there among you anyone who can perform ruqyah?"Abu Saeed said, I replied, "What is the matter?"He said, "The chief of the village is dying."We went with him, and I recited the Opening of the Book over him, repeating it several times, and he recovered. They then sent us food and a flock of sheep driven along. My companions said, "The Prophet ﷺ gave us no instruction about this. We will not take anything from it until we come to the Prophet ﷺ."So we drove the sheep along until we came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him what had happened. He said, "Eat, and feed us with you. How did you know it was a ruqyah?"I said, "It was simply cast into my heart."

Its isnad is sahih. Sulayman bin Tarkhan Taymi, though in the printed edition it appears as Ibn Qutayba, which is an error, for that is his mother's name. Ibn Main, Ibn Hibban, and others graded him reliable. The hadith has already been mentioned at 10927.
