We were prevented from performing the prayer on the Day of the Trench until well into the night after sunset, until we were relieved. That is the meaning of Allah's statement, "And Allah spared the believers from fighting, and Allah is ever Strong, Mighty" [Ahzab 33:25].Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Bilal, who gave the iqamah for the noon prayer, and he prayed it properly, just as he used to pray it at its proper time. Then he ordered him, and Bilal gave the iqamah for the afternoon prayer, and he prayed it properly, just as he used to pray it at its proper time. Then he ordered him, and Bilal gave the iqamah for the sunset prayer, and he prayed it likewise.This was before Allah revealed concerning the prayer of fear, "Then on foot or riding" [Baqarah 2:239].
حدثنا عبد الملك بن عمرو حدثنا ابن أبي ذئب وحجاج قالا أنا ابن أبي ذئب عن سعيد المقبري
حبسنا يوم الخندق عن الصلاة حتى كان بعد المغرب بهوي من الليل حتى كفينا وذلك قول الله تعالى {وكفى الله المؤمنين القتال وكان الله قويا عزيزا} قال فدعا رسول الله ﷺ بلالا فأقام صلاة الظهر فصلاها وأحسن صلاتها كما كان يصليها في وقتها ثم أمره فأقام العصر فصلاها وأحسن صلاتها كما كان يصليها في وقتها ثم أمره فأقام المغرب فصلاها كذلك قال وذلكم قبل أن ينزل الله في صلاة الخوف {فرجالا أو ركبانا}
Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Abu Dhib is Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman. The hadith is found in Muslim 1/436, no. 627, in the chapter on Masajid, on the severity of missing the Asr prayer, and in Nasai 1/236, no. 473, in the chapter on Prayer, with the same wording, and in Ibn Abu Shayba 2/503.(1) In H, "Abdul-Malik bin Amr and Hajjaj told us, they said, Ibn Abu Dhib narrated to us," which is the correct version.
