Abd Khayr reported,

Ali sat down after performing the dawn prayer in the courtyard, then said to his servant, "Bring me water for purification."The servant brought him a vessel containing water and a basin.Abd Khayr said, "We were sitting watching him."He took the vessel with his right hand and poured water onto his left hand, then washed his palms. Then he took the vessel again with his right hand and poured water onto his left hand, then washed his palms. He did this three times.Abd Khayr said, "In each instance, he would not put his hand into the vessel until he had washed it three times."Then he put his right hand into the vessel, rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose, and blew it out using his left hand. He did this three times.Then he put his right hand into the vessel and washed his face three times. Then he washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, then his left arm up to the elbow three times.Then he plunged his right hand into the vessel until the water covered it, then lifted it with the water it held, then wiped it with his left hand. Then he wiped his head with both hands once.Then he poured water with his right hand onto his right foot three times and washed it with his left hand. Then he poured water with his right hand onto his left foot and washed it with his left hand three times.Then he put his right hand into the vessel, scooped water in his palm, and drank.Then he said, "This is the manner of purification of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ. Whoever wishes to see how the Prophet of Allah ﷺ purified himself, this is how he did it."

عبد خير قال

جلس علي بعدما صلى الفجر في الرحبة ثم قال لغلامه ائتني بطهور فأتاه الغلام بإناء فيه ماء وطست قال عبد خير ونحن جلوس ننظر إليه فأخذ بيمينه الإناء فأكفأه على يده اليسرى ثم غسل كفيه ثم أخذ بيده اليمنى الإناء فأفرغ على يده اليسرى ثم غسل كفيه فعله ثلاث مرار قال عبد خير كل ذلك لا يدخل يده في الإناء حتى يغسلها ثلاث مرات ثم أدخل يده اليمنى في الإناء فمضمض واستنشق ونثر بيده اليسرى فعل ذلك ثلاث مرات ثم أدخل يده اليمنى في الإناء فغسل وجهه ثلاث مرات ثم غسل يده اليمنى ثلاث مرات إلى المرفق ثم غسل يده اليسرى ثلاث مرات إلى المرفق ثم أدخل يده اليمنى في الإناء حتى غمرها الماء ثم رفعها بما حملت من الماء ثم مسحها بيده اليسرى ثم مسح رأسه بيديه كلتيهما مرة ثم صب بيده اليمنى ثلاث مرات على قدمه اليمنى ثم غسلها بيده اليسرى ثم صب بيده اليمنى على قدمه اليسرى ثم غسلها بيده اليسرى ثلاث مرات ثم أدخل يده اليمنى فغرف بكفه فشرب ثم قال هذا طهور نبي الله ﷺ فمن أحب أن ينظر إلى طهور نبي الله ﷺ فهذا طهوره
