Its chain of transmission is sahih. Amr bin Yahya is Ibn Umara Al-Mazini, and his father Yahya bin Umara are both trustworthy narrators. The hadith was narrated with a similar wording by Bukhari 2/263 no. 6916, Fath al-Bari, in the chapter on retributions, "If a Muslim slaps a Jew," and by Abu Dawud 4/217 no. 4684, in the chapter on sunnah, "Choosing between the prophets," and by Ibn Abu Shayba 11/509 no. 11847, in the chapter on virtues. The scholars said that this was superseded by the hadith, "I am the master of the children of Adam, and I say this without boasting." What is meant is that we should not say Musa is superior to Isa, but as for Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, he is undoubtedly the best of the prophets.
