Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

People will be brought to the bridge over Hellfire, which is covered with thorns, hooks, and grappling spikes that snatch people away.People will pass over it in different ways. Some will cross like lightning, others like the wind, others like a swift racehorse, others running, others walking, others crawling, and others dragging themselves along.As for the inhabitants of the Fire, they will neither die nor live. But there are people who will be seized for their sins and burned until they become charcoal. Then Allah will permit intercession, and they will be brought out in groups and cast into a river, where they will sprout as seeds sprout in the silt left by a flood.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Have you seen the yellowish plant that grows by the water's edge?"He continued, "Near the Fire there are three trees. A man will come out of the Fire and stand at its edge, and he will say, 'My Lord, turn my face away from it.'Allah will say, 'By your covenant and pledge, will you ask me for nothing else?'Then the man will see a tree and say, 'My Lord, bring me close to this tree so I may shade myself beneath it and eat from its fruit.'Allah will say, 'By your covenant and pledge, will you ask me for nothing else?'Then he will see another tree, more beautiful than the first, and say, 'My Lord, move me to this tree so I may shade myself beneath it and eat from its fruit.'Allah will say, 'By your covenant and pledge, will you ask me for nothing else?'Then he will see a third tree and say, 'My Lord, move me to this tree so I may shade myself beneath it and eat from its fruit.'Allah will say, 'By your covenant and pledge, will you ask me for nothing else?'Then he will see the throngs of people and hear their voices, and he will say, 'My Lord, admit me into Paradise.'"Abu Saeed and another companion of the Prophet ﷺ differed about what came next. One of them said that he will enter Paradise and be given the equivalent of this world and the like of it along with it. The other said that he will enter Paradise and be given the equivalent of this world and ten times its like.

حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد حدثنا عثمان بن غياث قال حدثني أبو نضرة

عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال

يعرض الناس على جسر جهنم وعليه حسك وكلاليب وخطاطيف تخطف الناس قال فيمر الناس مثل البرق وآخرون مثل الريح وآخرون مثل الفرس المجد وآخرون يسعون سعيا وآخرون يمشون مشيا وآخرون يحبون حبوا وآخرون يزحفون زحفا فأما أهل النار فلا يموتون ولا يحيون وأما ناس فيؤخذون بذنوبهم فيحرقون فيكونون فحما ثم يأذن الله في الشفاعة فيوجدون ضبارات ضبارات فيقذفون على نهر فينبتون كما تنبت الحبة في حميل السيل قال قال رسول الله ﷺ هل رأيتم الصبغاء فقال وعلى النار ثلاث شجرات فتخرج أو يخرج رجل من النار فيكون على شفتها فيقول يا رب اصرف وجهي عنها قال فيقول وعهدك وذمتك لا تسألني غيرها قال فيرى شجرة فيقول يا رب أدنني من هذه الشجرة أستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرتها قال فيقول وعهدك وذمتك لا تسألني غيرها قال فيرى شجرة أخرى أحسن منها فيقول يا رب حولني إلى هذه الشجرة فأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرتها فيقول وعهدك وذمتك لا تسألني غيرها قال فيرى الثالثة فيقول يا رب حولني إلى هذه الشجرة أستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرتها قال وعهدك وذمتك لا تسألني غيرها قال فيرى سواد الناس ويسمع أصواتهم فيقول رب أدخلني الجنة قال فقال أبو سعيد ورجل آخر من أصحاب النبي ﷺ اختلفا فقال أحدهما فيدخل الجنة فيعطى الدنيا ومثلها معها وقال الآخر يدخل الجنة فيعطى الدنيا وعشرة أمثالها
