We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when we passed by a stream containing rainwater. The people were fasting, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Drink."No one drank, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank, and then the people drank.

Its isnad is sahih. Abu Masud is Saeed bin Iyas Jariri, a trustworthy narrator, as noted many times before. The hadith, with its meaning, is found in Sahihayn, both in the book of fasting. Bukhari has it in the chapter "If he fasts some days of Ramadan," and Muslim has it in the chapter on the permissibility of fasting and breaking the fast. It is also found with its exact wording in Ibn Hibban, 228, number 909, Mawarid.
