A hadith which I believe he traced back to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Wealth is not in the abundance of possessions, but true wealth is the richness of the soul. By Allah, I do not fear poverty for you, but I fear that you will compete in accumulating worldly goods, and I fear that you will compete intentionally."
حدثنا كثير حدثنا جعفر قال سمعت يزيد بن الأصم يقول
حديث لا أحسبه إلا رفعه إلى النبي ﷺ قال ليس الغنى عن كثرة العرض ولكن الغنى غنى النفس والله ما أخشى عليكم الفقر ولكن أخشى عليكم التكاثر ولكن أخشى عليكم العمد
