An Arabi came striking his face and pulling out his hair, saying, "I am ruined!"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What has ruined you?"He replied, "I had relations with my wife during Ramadan."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Are you able to free a Raqaba?"He said, "No."He asked, "Are you able to fast two consecutive months?"He said, "No."He asked, "Are you able to feed sixty needy people?"He said, "No," and he mentioned his poverty.Then a large basket containing fifteen saa of what I believe were dates was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Where is the man?"He said, "Give this in charity."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, between the two lava fields of Madinah there is no household more needy than ours."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed until his molars showed, then he said, "Feed it to your family."
حدثنا روح حدثنا محمد بن أبي حفصة عن ابن شهاب عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن
أن أعرابيا جاء يلطم وجهه وينتف شعره ويقول ما أراني إلا قد هلكت فقال له رسول الله ﷺ وما أهلكك قال أصبت أهلي في رمضان قال أتستطيع أن تعتق رقبة قال لا قال أتستطيع أن تصوم شهرين متتابعين قال لا قال أتستطيع أن تطعم ستين مسكينا قال لا وذكر الحاجة قال فأتي رسول الله ﷺ بزنبيل وهو المكتل فيه خمسة عشر صاعا أحسبه تمرا قال النبي ﷺ أين الرجل قال أطعم هذا قال يا رسول الله ما بين لابتيها أحد أحوج منا أهل بيت قال فضحك رسول الله ﷺ حتى بدت أنيابه قال أطعم أهلك
