I fell ill and the Prophet ﷺ came to visit me while I was saying, "Allah, if my appointed time has come, then grant me relief. If it is yet to come, then heal me or restore me to health. If this is a trial, then grant me patience."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What did you just say?"I repeated it to him.He then placed his hand on me and said, "Allah, heal him," or "restore him to health."Ali said, "I never suffered from that illness again."
حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن عمرو بن مرة عن عبد الله بن سلمة
اشتكيت فأتاني النبي ﷺ وأنا أقول اللهم إن كان أجلي قد حضر فأرحني وإن كان متأخرا فاشفني أو عافني وإن كان بلاء فصبرني فقال النبي ﷺ كيف قلت قال فأعدت عليه قال فمسح بيده ثم قال اللهم اشفه أو عافه قال فما اشتكيت وجعي ذاك بعد
