A funeral procession passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the people praised the deceased, mentioning his good qualities. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It has become certain."Then another funeral procession passed by him, and the people spoke ill of the deceased, mentioning his bad qualities. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It has become certain. You are Allah's witnesses on earth."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا محمد عن أبي سلمة
مروا على رسول الله ﷺ بجنازة فأثنوا عليها خيرا في مناقب الخير فقال رسول الله ﷺ وجبت ثم مروا عليه بجنازة أخرى فأثنوا عليها شرا في مناقب الشر فقال رسول الله ﷺ وجبت إنكم شهداء الله في الأرض
