Ali said, "We have nothing except the Book of Allah the Exalted and this document from the Prophet ﷺ."The document stated, "Madinah is sacred territory between Air and Thawr. Whoever introduces an innovation into it or shelters one who does so, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. No obligatory worship or voluntary deed will be accepted from him."He also said, "The protection granted by the Muslims is one, so whoever betrays a Muslim, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. No voluntary deed or obligatory worship will be accepted from him. And whoever attaches himself as a client to a people without the permission of his own patrons, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Allah will accept from him neither voluntary deed nor obligatory worship."
