The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led a prayer in which he recited aloud. When he finished, he asked, "Did any of you recite along with me just now?"A man from the people answered, "I did."He said, "I was wondering why I felt the Quran being contended with me."
Its isnad is sahih, Tirmidhi related it, 2/118, no. 312, in the chapter on prayer, on what has been said about omitting recitation behind the imam, and Nasai, 2/145, and Malik, 1/86, in the chapter on prayer, on omitting recitation behind the imam. Ibn Ukaymah, with the diminutive form, is Umarah bin Ukaymah Al-Laythi, a trustworthy narrator with very few reports.
