He used to lead them in prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit him during his illness, and they said, "Messenger of Allah, our imam is ill."He replied, "When he prays sitting, pray sitting as well."

Its isnad is daif. The hadith has supporting witnesses, see no. 601. Muhammad bin Salih is of unknown reliability, and Husayn bin Abdul-Rahman al-Ashali never met Usayd bin Hudayr. A similar report has been established as coming from Usayd himself, stopped at him rather than going back to the Prophet. See Fath al-Bari 2/176.
