The Prophet ﷺ said to him, or to a companion of his, "When the time for prayer comes, give the call to prayer, then call the iqamah, then let the older of you lead the prayer."
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا إسمعيل ح و حدثنا مسدد حدثنا مسلمة بن محمد المعنى واحد عن خالد عن أبي قلابة
أن النبي ﷺ قال له أو لصاحب له إذا حضرت الصلاة فأذنا ثم أقيما ثم ليؤمكما أكبركما سنا
Bukhari narrated it in Adhan, chapter "The adhan for travelers when they are in a group, and the iqamah," etc., hadith no. 630, and Muslim narrated it in Masajid, chapter "Who is most entitled to lead the prayer?," hadith no. 674, both from the hadith of Khalid Haddan, with this wording.
