I spent a night with the Prophet ﷺ. When he woke from his sleep, he came to his water for purification, took his toothstick and used it, then recited these verses, "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding" [Al Imran 3:190], until he was close to finishing the surah, or he finished it. Then he performed ablution and went to his place of prayer and prayed two units of prayer. Then he returned to his bed and slept as long as Allah willed.Then he woke up and did the same. Then he returned to his bed and slept. Then he woke up and did the same. Then he returned to his bed and slept. Then he woke up and did the same. Each time he would use the toothstick and pray two units of prayer. Then he prayed the witr.
حدثنا محمد بن عيسى حدثنا هشيم أخبرنا حصين عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن محمد بن علي بن عبد الله بن عباس عن أبيه
بت ليلة عند النبي ﷺ فلما استيقظ من منامه أتى طهوره فأخذ سواكه فاستاك ثم تلا هذه الآيات {إن في خلق السموات والأرض واختلاف الليل والنهار لآيات لأولي الألباب} حتى قارب أن يختم السورة أو ختمها ثم توضأ فأتى مصلاه فصلى ركعتين ثم رجع إلى فراشه فنام ما شاء الله ثم استيقظ ففعل مثل ذلك ثم رجع إلى فراشه فنام ثم استيقظ ففعل مثل ذلك ثم رجع إلى فراشه فنام ثم استيقظ ففعل مثل ذلك كل ذلك يستاك ويصلي ركعتين ثم أوتر

Muslim narrated it in the Book of the Prayer of the Traveler, Chapter on the Prayer of the Prophet ﷺ and his supplication at night, hadith 191/763, from the hadith of Husayn bin Abdul-Rahman with this wording, and it will come at length at 1353.
