The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade flicking pebbles, saying, "It does not catch game nor wound an enemy. It only puts out an eye and breaks a tooth."
حدثنا حفص بن عمر حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة عن عقبة بن صهبان
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الخذف قال إنه لا يصيد صيدا ولا ينكأ عدوا وإنما يفقأ العين ويكسر السن
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Manners, Chapter on the Prohibition of Throwing Pebbles with Two Fingers (Khadhf), hadith no. 6220, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals, Chapter on the Permissibility of Using Animals for Hunting and Aggression and the Disapproval of Khadhf, hadith no. 1954, from the hadith of Shubah, through this same chain.
