He was among the delegation of Abdul-Qays. He said, "When we arrived in Medina, we hurried down from our mounts and began kissing the hand and foot of the Prophet ﷺ."He continued, "But Mundhir al-Ashajj waited until he reached his travel bag, put on his two garments, and then came to the Prophet ﷺ."The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "You have two qualities that Allah loves, forbearance and deliberation."Ashajj asked, "Messenger of Allah, are these qualities I have acquired, or has Allah created me with them?"He replied, "Rather, Allah has created you with them."Ashajj said, "Praise be to Allah, who has created me with two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love."

وكان في وفد عبد القيس قال لما قدمنا المدينة فجعلنا نتبادر من رواحلنا فنقبل يد النبي ﷺ ورجله قال وانتظر المنذر الأشج حتى أتى عيبته فلبس ثوبيه ثم أتى النبي ﷺ فقال له إن فيك خلتين يحبهما الله الحلم والأناة قال يا رسول الله أنا أتخلق بهما أم الله جبلني عليهما قال بل الله جبلك عليهما قال الحمد لله الذي جبلني على خلتين يحبهما الله ورسوله
